Right now at P.S.1 are two amazing exhibitions. Michael Joaquin
Grey's Perpetual ZOOZ is totally breathtaking. What at first
seems like a Basic Channel 4/4 kick distorting the speakers is
actually two heartbeats. One heartbeat is the artist's while the
other is his mother's and both modulate a projection of The Wizard
of Oz that is presented like a rotating coin acid meltdown. On one
side the The Wizard of Oz is played backwards and vice versa on the
other. It's more complicated to explain than it is to watch.
Totally amazing. This video only serves as an example and comes
nowhere close to doing the piece justice.

Also at P.S.1, Kenneth Anger's video work gets the atmsophere and
space it deserves and speaks for itself. Lucifer Rising is my
favorite of his films; like if Sun Ra met Aleister Crowley at the
foot of the Sphinx.

In the late 90's I bought my first Accelera Deck record from someone I
would eventually befriend and ultimately betray and soon afterwards I
met Chris Jeely. We stared an mp3/cdr label called aii.fm which also
the web address and is of course now defunct. Our first releases were
my first music as Joshua Treble with the Parasol EP and Chris as Saint13.

Ten years ago usually seems better, I cut out pictures of Matt Elliot
with teased hair and scotch taped them to my bedroom wall alongside
xerox's of Perry Farrell, Skinny Puppy, Alex Patterson, and was
surrounded by Musik Aus Strom, Skam, Wurlizter Jukebox, Sun Ra,
and Disco Inferno records and there was no place I would have rather
been than New Orleans- so every chance I could get I was driving
down I-95 on my way there.

My friend Tony Papin, whom I've never met, (and seems to be my own
personal Richey Edwards} contributed photography, my mom scissors,
my dad a walking Clint Eastwood, Grant was relentless with sampling,
and the Richard D. James Album and The Third Eye Foundation's
Ghost lp were the most amazing records I had ever heard. Hmmm...
and today I did yoga.

I went to a yard sale today. D+ bought me a pharaoh bust, a
Campagnolo pin, and Porno For Pyros' first cd. Which I have
had since high school but it's scratched so I couldn't listen
to Cursed Female, Black Girlfriend, or Orgasm... and that's
just no good.

Maybe I should post an Ike Yard video... but I like this one more.

Too Many Cats In The Casket

...watched The Torture Garden last niGht. No relation to the amazing
book... but it had Burgess Meredith and Peter Cushing in it.

Movies.. yes, books... no. My sister-in-law (?) got me the Throbbing
Gristle book for xmas which I was quite into until I had to pack
everything up and make like a banana. (T.G. are playing in Chicago at
the end of this month)

I wish I could read Drawing Blood or Lost Souls for the first time
again. Dennis Cooper's Closer was closer but I still couldn't find
a vein.

Soon I will be posting my own music here. As for now, here's another mix.

So... I will apologize now for the broken glass in the mausoleum
and if I am a bit saltier than you remember. For Poppy Z Brite,

What can I say, day sixty-something of northern migration. My ears are
still ringing from seeing Wavves on Tuesday night. Just a pleasant
reminder of how much that kid shreds.

The weird part of the day when the entire continent is going to lunch
but I'm the only one awake in the house. I can't decide if I should
ride my bike or set up this ghetto drum kit that I salvaged from the
moldy basement. No heat= busted pipes.

Here's another mix for yr pleasure of lack thereof. Starting off with
Gescom's classic broken boombox jam from Alt. Frequencies 3.
I always imagined the video for this song as Rob & Sean slo-mo
head noddin' in the backseat but as I type it out it doesn't
look so good. Kinda like how Seinfeld is a show about nothing.

Meanwhile Art of Noise - Moments In Love and John Frusciante's
Ants are some of the best moments ever recorded. I remember in
high school when I got Niandra Ladies my friends and I were rolling
through this alley in Ashland with swollen third eyes when a midget
swung down from a fire escape right above my Suzuki Swift. I have
witnesses... it wasn't just the blotter. Later that day my friends
took my car to pick up this girl; only it was her *mom* dressed in
her clothes outside waiting for them. A car chase ensued.
